KAUAI, HAWAII FAMILY FUN
There is Family Fun & Learning on Kauai, The Garden Isle
Kauai is known to offer the most dramatic scenery of the Hawaii islands. It can also be a very fun family vacation destination offering unique fun and informative experiences for the entire family. Yes, even the kids.
I have zip-lined on Kauai and all I can say is Wow. If you thought Mexico or the Caribbean were fun experiences from a previous zip-line experience - are you in for a treat. The terrain, valleys, landscape and of course soaring mountain peaks make Kauai the ultimate locale for zip-lining. Kids with an adventurous side will love it and remember it for the rest of their life.
Waimea Canyon waterfall, Kauai |
Waimea Canyon, dubbed the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific," is actually set in a state park and delivers a spectacular and free experience. The 18-mile drive to the top of the canyon has multiple stops for hiking and ever-increasingly fabulous views of the Pacific Ocean below.
Near the end of the road is Kalalau Lookout. This is a great viewpoint, BUT, don't stop here. Continue to the very end of the road to Pu'u O Kila Lookout, the true end of the road. A short hike will deliver you to a picture perfect view down the Kalalau Canyon to the amazing deep blue Pacific Ocean. The view, with waterfalls flowing down cliffs is breathtaking. After all, you are looking down 3,600 feet from the top of the famous Na Pali Coast. Cheers

Now that you have whet your kids appetite for spectacular views and adventure take them to the natural next step. Cruise the Na Pali Coast on a catamaran. We have on multiple occasions and will again and again.
There are a variety of ways to experience the coast by water. A daytime catamaran sail allows for snorkeling time. A Zodiac can take you along the same route but also deliver otherwise inaccessible beaches at the feet of towering mountains where few have left their footprints. And lastly the calmest of the options is a sunset cruise to enjoy canapes and drinks to soak in the spectacular views and toast the sunset.

One thing is for sure. With each option you will be awestruck at the sight of staggering cliffs rising up to 4,000-feet straight up out of the blue Pacific Ocean. And the pods of dolphins that race along side your vessel is a thrilling bonus everyone of any age will love.
Of course a Hawaii vacation is not complete without beach time So why not include a beach that allows Monk Seals to rest and tan on the beach. Check out Po'ipu Beach on the South Shore.

Additionally kids can wander the tide pools, search for starfish, tiny crabs and other fascinating critters in one of the world's natural aquariums.
