THE EVOLUTION OF THE ALL-INCLUSIVE CONCEPT

Part 1 of our All-Inclusive Blog Series - The Evolution of the All-Inclusive

The all-inclusive resort concept has evolved from its infancy days of all you can eat buffets, all the beer you can chug, and tiny rooms with no televisions. Today's all-inclusive resort wouldn't even recognize it's prehistoric predecessor.

Today your stay at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico or the Caribbean could include an in-room Jacuzzi for two, a private rooftop terrace with a private plunge pool, a swim-up pool at your patio, up to 10 gourmet caliber a-la-carte restaurants, an infinity pool on your balcony, bars dedicated to martini's, mojitos, or tequila, mini-fridges with Heineken and/or Budweiser in your room, romantic candlelit dinners on the beach, complete liquor set-ups or liquor dispensers in your room, access to exclusive lounges, butler service, take a sunset cruise or snorkel by catamaran, and you can now even stay at an overwater bungalow at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico and the Caribbean. Wow!

ULTIMATE VACATIONS specializes in All-Inclusive vacations, honeymoons, anniversaries and destination weddings. This is the first in a year-long series of blogs examining the plethora of all-inclusive resort possibilities that exists. We will examine All-Inclusive resorts exclusively for adults, ones that focus on families with infants, teens, multi-generational families, and resorts that have separate sections for adults and families or adjoining family and adult resorts. There are even theme All-Inclusive resorts like Nickelodeon, and look out Parrot Heads - the first Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville All-Inclusive Resort is on its way.

Future blogs will look additionally at specific all inclusive brands, destinations, our favorite all-inclusive resort bars, restaurants, spas, the luxury segment, the most luxurious suites, the most romantic resorts, resorts featuring wine, rum and tequila sommeliers, resorts with on-site breweries, water parks for kids of all ages, resorts for honeymoon, anniversaries and destination weddings, and many more topics related to all-inclusive resorts.

All-Inclusive Resorts are found throughout Mexico and the Caribbean. But despite the many requests we get - there are none in Hawaii or domestically. At least not in the true sense. And in the true sense All-Inclusive Resorts include all meals, all drinks - alcohol included, all snacks,  a reasonable amount of activities and non-motorized water sports, nightly entertainment made up of shows, DJ's, bands, and games. Many upper level brands include Free WiFi, some include free calls back to the U.S. A few brands go beyond the standard inclusions and include off-resort activities and tours.
